Ok, so the other Girl" has been with me for a while now, since about April of 2007 and I reckon I'm finished with her. She's always been very much a by product of emotions generated originally by the people I chose to surround myself with and the stuff that happened at that time. That sound's terribly passive-agressive, which is not how it's intended at all, it's just the inability I had at the time to either interpret or express the things that were then happening. Some of the charachters are losely based on my college friends, who are wonderful, magnificent loveliness, or people from home/work/other places and many of both groups are counted among those closest to me. But some aren't just representations, they're direct translations of downright assholes! I'm a lazy cow, I bloody hate typing, which is why only six or so of the seventeen or eighteen stories appear here. The point of publishing for me was never because I had any illusions about being good but because I feel like it's out when it's published and not a diary entry type thing which defeats the purpose of writing so as to express in the first place. Ans so the not typing and writing stuff down with the intention of typing has turned them into just that, diary entries and to be honest she sounds to me like a right moany bitch!
So, having found a place to finish I think I'm done with her, she's starting to feel not just like a story but little more than a way to complain so I've decided to move on to a new idea I've had.
"The other girl" didn't ever have a voice so I've had a new idea that let's the chatachters speak but without me having to write " he said" or " so said such and such". It's a story of three friends, all girls, but it's told through their diaries e.g each story will be told as a diary entry( see what I did there) from three different people, all three sides of the same story will be told. I've just started but I'm afraid it'll be hard to read, as "The other Girl" was. Also I hope to keep these three completely fictional, but we'll see how far I get with that!! Anyhoo, all comments and suggestions on the idea would be greatly appreciated.
As for " The Other Girl" I either have to finish typing her up and publish her- because some charachters change as the go on, such as "The oblivious criminal" and "The blue guitarist" and as it stands it sounds much more the tale of "The Musician2 rather than that of "The other girl" which it is certainly not as it turns out!-or burn her. I'm afraid I might be too lazy for one, which is or no use to me or my head, but not ready or willing for the latter....hmmmm.
